Disappointing service

I am really disaponted with the service i received at ABSA Rosebank on the morning of 25-05-2016. I went inside the bank and i was served by teller 10. This young lady helped me withdraw money from my account. I explained to her that i wanted to make a second transaction, to pay African bank. She then told me she could not do this as she needed banking details. I asked her if it was possible to load African Bank as one of my beneficiaries instead and she said she was not sure. She then asked teller 9 & 11 if this was possible and they both said this was not posible. They were all reading through my settlement letter from African bank and this letter clearly stated that "My bank" was able to load African bank as a benefficiary. I was told that i could not be helped. I accepted what i was told because i thought they knew what they were talking about.

I decided to call Aftrican bank to ask for their banking details. I explained to the consultant what was said at ABSA. He explained exactly what the letter said...."My bank should load African bank as a benefficiary". I went back and explained all this to the floor supervisor and she directed me to someone who assisted me. Yes, when i told her what i was there to do she was also unsure if this could be done, but she said she was going to try and assist. She searched for African Bank details on heir system and was able to load for me.

The most disapointing thing about all this is that i had to go through so many people before i could get help!!!! Its very sad that my first visit to ABSA was a waste of time and none of the 3 agents could assist. Yes, maybe this was not their line of work and they genuinly did not know how to assist me, but they could have asked some of their other colleagues or a team leader for proper information. All three of them seemed less interested and they took the easy option of sending me away!!!!!

I feel like there needs to be some kind of training or a way of letting ABSA's team members know what products they offer to us as customers.

Thank you to Granny/020825 (Not sure of her name) who assisted me the second time i went there. She was very patient and willing to assist. This really showed the difference in the service levels there.

Kind Regards

Mrs Maphoto
