Disappointed in credit department

I have utilising Absa since 1999 for my business and personal banking. Due to the nature of my business with a government department from year to year the financial needs change at this time of the year.

I find myself currently needing a temporary expansion on my overdraft, as before mentioned this is not an every year problem, but does happen from time to time. I must mention I do have substantial colateral with Absa.

I was advised many years ago to take a bond of 1.9 million on a 5 million Rand unbonded property as to serve as colateral on the overdraft of R300 000.

I was approached a few months ago by Ronald Chetty to increase my overdraft of course not forseeing this exact situation I weighed up the fees, which would be incurred by the increase and as there was no cer*****y that it would ever be needed the cost was too great so I declined.

A week before month end on approaching my financial advisor about the current need for a temporary increase in overdraft I was asked to submit various documents, which I did and on the last day of the month I was alerted to the fact that the temporary increase would not be granted, because I declined the previous offer.

I was very disappointed in the situation as I had felt through the 26 years of doing business with Absa we had built a relationship that I could trust them to help me in this temporary situation when I needed them most.
