Disappointed in absa
Although its a review for absa, its not just aimed at them. How long are we going to live in the past? Home loan criteria is pathetic in this country. Up to half a million people could be above the poverty line if only our home loan criteria changed. We paying off other people's bonds and pay well above the actual price of a bond repayment due to hiring. I sent absa a email last week about the possibility of a home loan. I knew due to the criteria of our home loan application, chances was it would be unsuccessful. But I hoped to at least hear it from absa. Unfortunately they could not even reply to me via a simple thing like an email. Absa is in my opinion the best bank I've banked with and the best bank we have but I at least expected a response from them. I have a serious offer on the table for a house that's worth at least R*** and I could get it for R700 000. Its in stonehill, Ravensmead. A quiet area just behind tygerberg hospital. I would've liked a million rand home loan so I could buy the house and pay all my debts and then focus on the bond repayments. I figured we could easily afford that over a 20 year period and still live comfortably. My wife is also almost done with her masters in teaching and then she'll earn in the mid R20 000 range. She done in June. But when she's done, she's going to apply at capitec via her government housing program. I wanted to not only stay loyal to absa but also stat with the best bank I know. But it seems earning R16 000 a month jointly is probably R16 000 too little. I will probably never get an offer like this ever again and its really sad that absa can't or don't want to help.
