Disappointed by insurance

Hello Peter My name is Lungile from Rustenburg I have insured my property with Absa since 2007. Last year on November we had a terrible storm and my house’s roof leaked due to the storm. As a results ceiling, lights and some parts of the roof got damaged. I logged a claim with absa and I was told that the was a company appointed to come evaluate the damages. After two weeks of sitting with lights that were not working I phoned them. I after a lengthy, stressful callings I was told that the company was busy with other clients and I must wait. After a week I called and I was told to look for the company that can check the damages and ask for quote. I did that hired a company to do that and I payed out of my pocket. I also fixed the lights out of my pocket. Send the quote they say I must wait and towards the Christmas they send other company to come and assess the house. I was not at home on the day of assessment and the guys that were assessing told my kids that my claim was not going to be successful. Early this year 2021 I made a follow up and I was told that I must wait as they were still reviewing my claim. I made several phone calls only to get the email two weeks later that they were trying to call me. Call again for two days I couldn’t get the person who was having the results of my claim. Later they dropped an email saying my claim was unsuccessful because of the blocked gutters that make water to enter the ceiling. Lousy excuse of something which is not even there. The tiles are broken in my roof and I don’t understand if they we broker by block gutter. The gutter is 0,5m below the ceiling and I don’t understand if water is going up. These companies always look for something to hold on just not to assist us poor people. More especially the people who resides in areas of black communities, to them we are just the milking ***s who suppose to only pay and not claimed.
