Disappointed by Absa Rewards Burger King Voucher Experience

On 11 September 2025, I successfully qualified for a Burger King voucher through the Absa banking app. When I went to redeem it, the store staff told me the voucher had already been redeemed or had expired. On the app it showed as “redeemed today, 11 September,” even though I had not used it.

This was embarrassing, especially as my children were in the car with me. I had promised them Burger King, but instead had to buy a cheaper meal at KFC using money I had not budgeted for, since I was relying on the voucher.

I reported the issue to Absa. I have since received responses from two different Absa divisions, both confirming the voucher is active and valid, and that it was a system error on Burger King’s side. While I appreciate the voucher being refreshed, none of the responses acknowledge the inconvenience, embarrassment, and additional expense I incurred.

The communication so far has treated this as if the only issue was the voucher itself, which is disappointing. What matters just as much is how the error affected me and my family in real life.

I am requesting:

1. A formal apology from Absa and Burger King.

2. A goodwill gesture to compensate for the embarrassment and unplanned costs I incurred.

3. Improved customer service responses that show empathy and accountability, not just technical fixes.

As a loyal Absa customer, I believe this situation should be taken more seriously, and I am sharing my experience so it can be addressed properly.
