Disagreement with Rejected Roof Leak Claim - No: ***
Dear Absa Home Insurance,
I am writing to appeal the recent denial of my claim for roof damage and subsequent ceiling collapse (Claim No: ***).
On December 2023, I submitted a claim for a leak in my roof and the resulting damage to the ceiling caused by rain and storm. The initial claim was denied due to concerns about the ceiling installation. While I understand this reasoning, it's important to note that the house has been standing for over 30 years without any reported roof leaks.
To address these concerns, I requested a re-inspection. An assessor visited my property on February 2024 and took pictures of the damage, including water marks on the walls and the failing ceiling. Unfortunately, the claim was again denied, with the explanation that the roof design supposedly prevents leaks.
This rationale is deeply concerning. There is clear evidence of water damage, both on the walls and in the collapsing ceiling. Six years of residence here confirm no prior leaks, suggesting this recent storm caused the damage.
Given the substantial evidence, I fail to understand why Absa is refusing to honor my claim. I pay my premiums consistently and expect the insurance to provide protection in situations exactly like this. They don't even update you on the claim, you constantly need to be calling them to follow up.
I kindly request a thorough review of my claim, taking into account the re-inspection and documented water damage. I am confident that upon further examination, Absa will recognize the validity of my claim.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Mary
