Dinosaur of banking
Really ABSA? Sending out a letter six weeks before an investment matures informing clients who wish to withdraw their funds that this option will require a visit to the branch. Not stated is that such a visit should only occur after the investment had in fact matured and not before that time. Unlike Discovery Bank, Nedbank and African Bank (to name only those I have current knowledge of) no prior instruction can be placed (surely a fami**** term for a financial institution) to ensure payment of the funds at any future date! So after waiting for 45 minutes for one of the 'skilled consultants' on a seemingly belated lunchbreak, I have to learn that she 'doesn't know why 'they' (sic!) send out such letters to clients'. So, I have to go back to the branch - after the maturity date - to get this elementary matter sorted. On my calendar the year indicated is 2023 - that means we are in the 21 century, Absa!
