Delay in POA that could have been prevented

My mother is currently in a step-down facility after a hip replacement. Unfortunately the trauma she is experiencing is affecting her ability to remember any of her passwords. She has asked us to arrange for us to have Power of Attorney over her bank accounts to make sure that she has sufficient funds in her account for her debit orders. We contacted ABSA on 12 April who indicated that we need to contact the nearest branch to the facility and they will arrange for someone from the branch to go to the facility and be present for my mother to sign a POA. We contacted Hennie from ABSA Bedfordview, who indicated that he was short staffed and will make arrangements the following week. We phoned Hennie on 19 April to make the arrangements for someone to go out to the facility, at which point he said that they no longer send people to the hospitals due to COVID.

I therefore had to arrange a POA with an attorney, but we have wasted a week because of the information that was not shared with us up front.
