Absa does not at all care about the clients being de*****ed at their facilities at all. I wonder if their ***** department is not just a production line of administrators waiting to dish out rejection letters to all clients who are de*****ed at their banks/ATMs after keeping them on ice for weeks as they “investigate”. We have had the worst experience with ABSA after our mom was de*****ed at one of their ATMs at Elukwatini, Mpumalanga on the 27th August 17. She went there to withdraw money and the card got swallowed into the machine, after she entered her pin number, no money came out whatsoever. There was no security to assist and it being a Sunday the bank was closed and she could not go in and query, she unfortunately did not have her phone with to immediately stop/cancel the card. She is also an older lady so she cannot see if an atm has been tampered with or not. Actually not everyone irrespective of age can tell if an atm has been tampered with or not with the way ********** are ruthlessly developing new ways to **** people these days. She stood infront of that ATM for close to an hour and nothing came out, 4 other people came individually to withdraw at the same atm and they got their money after her. She ended up leaving the bank to go home. She went inside the actual branch to get help on Monday 28th August 17. All she got told by the *********** consultants is that they saw cards there in the morning and immediately destroyed them, they do so every morning so they do not have proof that hers was there. Okay how can they prove anyone’s card was there if the first thing they do every morning is to destroy cards they find in the machine? Odd. Next thing she gets told R1000 was withdrawn on the Sunday much later than the time she was there at (hopefully each atm has a camera to prove that) and more and more amounts withdrawn in Barbeton, some plaza and lastly in LIMPOPO on the Monday she was at the bank. So it is clear someone committed ***** with the card, it is clear as daylight if money is withdrawn in Limpopo in the same period my mom was at the bank by on Monday. Next thing they send her from pillar to post, get her to go open a case at the police station, affidavits, etc and she gets told she will be contacted in 6 weeks if she is lucky enough that the bank attends to it. Dissapointed to say that after all the running around, lack of urgency competence from the bank consultants in explaining the process to her and assisting in general, she has not been given sound feedback as to what happened. All she got was that the investigation was done, she can check the (rejection)letter issued at the branch which says she will not get jack!! All they can do is LOAN her R680 that she will owe to the bank, and they Mumble their way into telling her she will not get a cent though they see some of the money was withdrawn just before they cancelled it(card), the whole time she was there!!! Sies!! How does a bank not have a camera at their atm to see that someone did not get to take any money after the “transaction” because no money came out when they were at the atm, how does a bank fail to see that someone else other than the account holder came and used the same pin for same card, that got swallowed into the atm to begin with, to withdraw money across provinces all the while the account holder’s card is sitting inside the bank’s atm and destroyed without investigation the next day? How was someone able to even withdraw if the card was swallowed into YOUR Machine? Odd. What are you doing as a bank to prevent ***** or deal with ***** when it is reported to you? Just an admin exercise and further financial ruin by offering the distressed customer a loan? Disgusting.
