Declined my c/card application after I already accepted a quote from them

I have app**** for 2 credit cards as I need 2 gold credit cards with some Car Rental companies when oversea.

My first one was with British Airways issued by ABSA Bank and the second one was directly with Absa Bank online.

Before I took delivery on my British Airwarys Credit Card, I was not aware at the time that the British Airways was issued via ABSA. Few days later I have app**** for my ABSA credit card online. Someone at the call centre phoned be back and said that they can't issue a 2nd card within 30 days of my first one, but they will keep the application open and call me back to complete once the 30 days have past.

After that, someone called me back, requesting docuemnts from me. After I have sent it, ABSA bank sent me an emailing for the approved amount and quote to accept.

After a few days I still haven't received my card and called to find out what's going on. Then only the told me that it's declined. (no sms/email to inform me). They said that they have declined my application due to the fact that their system don't allow a second credit card within 30 days.

I refuse to except that because nothing in their application asked me the last date of a credit card application with them...A few people contacted me and manually worked on my application. Yet, they completed the application and sent me the approved quote, only to refuse it afterwards

ITC enquiries has been made on my credit profile by ABSA, and now it's refelcting badly on my credit profile (declined application) due to ABSA's sytem, and not MY fault.

I conacted a manager at absa, named Mapule Malikane and told her it's not my problem that their system wasn't rejecteing the application from the beginning...no solution was offered to me...nor about the bad enquiries that was left on my credit profile...I demanded that they issue me the credit card that was already approved and quote accepted but she refused.

I think this is unexceptable behavior from a bank given the fact that anything in the system can be overide if spoken to the correct persons involed...but I could tell she didn't want to help me.

Pieter Biewenga

***
