Declined Debit Orders
I've been running around for the past 3 days trying to sort out a mess caused by Absa, who, without warning, decided that debit orders would no longer be allowed on the Call Savings account I've had and used for this purpose for the past ten years! All my debit orders (except the Absa mortgage, interestingly enough) were returned unpaid on 1 April, and it's been a struggle ever since to correct the affected accounts.

I was about to transfer the account balance elsewhere to pay my suppliers, and had the pleasure of waiting in the queue for 45 minutes. By the time I got to the front, I decided to cut my losses and close the account - I'll take my chances with a rival bank. No-one else can possibly be this poor!

Goodbye and good riddance, Absa!
