Deceased estate - delay after delay and little to no communication!

Writing to air my extreme frustration with Absa for unexplained delays with closing my father’s bank account and paying out the funds to the only benefitiary of the estate, my mother. My Father passed away in November last year and the process with Absa has been dragging on for months. What makes it even more frustrating is that the last communication received from the bank was over a month ago and even friends from within Absa are indicating that phonecalls and emails to the responsible deparment / people are not being returned. I am at my wits end re how to cross this one final hurdle holding back the finalisation of the estate. What makes it so sad is the fact that an elderly lady is in desperate need of the cash in order to move to an old age home… NOT GOOD ENOUGH ABSA!

Dear Daphne,
Almost a week later and the only response from Absa has been an acknowledgement of my post on Hello Peter. Monitoring this site and responding with a “we take notice” does not help in any way shape or form.
It is unbelievable that closing a bank account can be this much of a mission.
