Debit order for credit card payment which happened late

Person makes arrangement for bank to pay credit card out of a savings acccount via debit order, this shows on statement that it will happen. The debit happens a day late due to ABSA error and then ABSA sends SMS saying you need to pay the credit card. I am NOT going to be penalised for late payment ! What is happening to ABSA.
