**************** in ABSA Bank
On Saturday, 23 March 2019, I accompanied my 87-year old father-in-law, Mr DN Denner, to the Absa branch in Ben Swart Street, Pretoria. All he needed was statements from his money market funds account for the period Apr - Aug 2018 as well as from Feb 2019 - current. At the customer service account, he found out from the consultant that each month’s statement would cost R60 per statement. I have to add that a month’s statement is short and printed on a single sheet of paper. My father-in-law is poor and only earns a small pension. To pay R60 per statement is, in my humble opinion, ridiculous and a very good example of exploitation of the poor and the elderly. Because the statements are, according to the consultant, archive (imagine Apr-Aug 2018 being archive!!!) the costs would amount to R300 - for 5 single pages!!!) Imagine if he would have requested the statements for a year: R720 for 12 pages! Go figure! This is disgusting! That’s ****************! Shame on you, ABSA!
