When I took out my Homeloan with Absa about 13 years ago, no one explained that I could pay the insurance premium on the property separatley to it being added to the Homeloan account. By adding it to the homeloan, I have been paying interest on the Insurance premium.

I queried this a few years ago and got no satisfactory answer. I have always felt that this is theft. Today, I decided enough is enough. In calling Absa Insurance, they agreed that i can pay the premium through a separate debit order. I asked for a refund of interest for the past 13 years.

They freferred me back to the Homeloans department as I took the Homeloan through them. The homeloans do not want to take responsiblity and said it's the Insurance departments problem.

They tried to argue that I was given the choice when itook out the homeloan. This is untrue. I am not stupid enough to add a policy to a homeloan and pay interest on the insurance policy. The Homeloan was taken out directly with Absa at Rosebank branch Jhb. Please find the recording of this being explained to me. the reason it never was, is because someone got a commission on adding the insurance to the homeloan.

I want Absa to refund me the 13 years of interest on the insurance premium of each year. I am busy removing it to a separate debit order.
