I took out a personal loan about two months ago without any problems. During this time, another consultant phoned me and asked if I would like to take out Credit life as well. I thought it might be a good idea and said yes without even asking how much it will be (my stupid mistake). When it was time for the first debit order, I noticed that my installment is about R500 more than what I agreed on. After I phoned several times, lodged a complaint and phoned some more (this took about a month to resolve) they eventually told me that it is my credit life that is so expensive and I can cancel it, I just have to go to my nearest branch. Which I did last week. This morning, the branch phoned and me and said it was declined because it was the conditions of my loan. This is not true! No one ever told me I HAVE to take credit life before I will qualify for the loan. It was never mentioned to me and it is nowhere in my documents. So again, I had to phone the whole world for them just to tell me that it is a mistake and they should cancel it if it was my request (because it is indeed optional) and I should return to the bank. So I have to take off from work again to do what I did last week and just wait and hope that a competent person receives my request to cancel this time! Sigh!!!
