Credit card OTP to be changed from sms to email
I have tried multiple times to change my credit card payment verification method to e-mail, but it is just never done. ABSA's poor customer service has become such a normal part of my life that I have never bothered to write a negative review as I would be writing one almost every day. Currently, I am abroad (in the Netherlands) and, I am left stranded with no payment options so I have no choice but to leave a poor review in the hope that I will finally get the service that I pay for and regain access to my own funds. I have been on hold for more than an hour cumulatively which has cost me hundreds of rands in foreign call charges. When I get hold of an operator they only tell me that the details have been updated, but I am still not receiving the verifications. I have found a review on this site from 2017(!!!!)stating the same problem and that it has been resolved. It is shocking that in 4 years ABSA has refused to find an easier way to fix this problem. (See the review here: https://www.hellopeter.com/absa/reviews/credit-card-otp-to-be-changed-from-sms-to-email-***) I expect ABSA to resolve this issue immediately as it has effectively left me with no access to my funds in a foreign country. I have listed my Dutch cellphone number below as I am not reachable via my SA number while abroad. I am 99% sure they will not contact me and 100% sure they will be unable to resolve my problem as their incompetence has been proven to me on multiple occasions. The cellphone number prefix is +31 for the Netherlands, but again I don't expect anybody at ABSA to understand something quite as simple as that. I would never recommend ABSA to anyone, they have left me stranded without money in a foreign country on two previous occasions as well, so this really comes as no surprise. Honestly, it's pathetic.
