Credit card issues

I am extremely dissatisfied with ABSA. I have had never-ending issues with ABSA and my credit card. I went in in February to apply for one and was told that I would be notified when it arrived. I got no notification and when I at last got a spare moment to go into the Hatfield, Pretoria branch (where I app**** for the card) in May I was told that the request was actually never logged on the system, even though I was told it had been.

I app**** again and got an sms and a phonecall on both 23/05 and 30/05 informing me that the card was at the Hatfield branch and that they requested me to collect it. I took time off work to go in and fetch it as I am unable to go in on weekends and it can't be delivered to me by post as I won't be available to sign for it. When I got to the front of the queue I was informed that the card hadn't arrived. I showed the smses that I had received and was told that it wasn't there. I asked why I would've been sent smses and had two phonecalls if it wasn't there and the excuse that I was given is that ABSA sometimes sends out smses saying that cards have arrived when they haven't.

Why does ABSA lie to clients like that? It is extremely inconvenient and I don't appreciate that I took precious time off work and travelled very far just to be told that they don't have it, after two phonecalls and smses informing me that they do. As I can't go in on weekends or sign for it, I'm going to have to take time off work AGAIN and won't be surprised if I do so and again have been **** to and it hasn't actually arrived.

How can ABSA send out such smses and make such phonecalls when they aren't true? They only destroy the cards if uncollected after 45 days, so this isn't a case of them having had the card with them and it being destroyed because I didn't fetch it timeously.

The man who I dealt with said he had "done his part" in looking for the card in the back room and offered no more assistance except to tell me that I must phone ABSA to follow up. No offer was made to assist me in following up or to follow up from his side, seeing as this is a mistake that ABSA has made. I wasn't referred to another actual human being, I was just told to phone the general number. I'm sure that there would've been someone in that branch on site who could've helped me. I wasted my time and my leave from work for nothing.
