Credit card fully paid

In the year 2000 I lost my job due to recession. I owed Absa Credit card R2000, I informed Absa that I lost my job & I could not pay the account. In 2012 I was handed over to debt collectors & during April as arranged my wife paid my account as I was unemployed. <br> <br> During October 2014 I started receiving calls & sms from MBD INC. that I must pay R2500 related to Absa credit card, I informed them that my account was fully paid at Absa Kempton Park in 2012. I kept receiving the calls & I decided to enquire at Absa Green Stone, I was informed that there was no record of my account as it was handed over to debt collectors & Absa contacted the 2012 debt collector however the phone was never answered. I was informed by Absa they will investigate the matter. <br> <br> About 3 months ago MBD INC started calling my wife & I, sending endless sms's that I must pay R2500 to avoid legal actions. I explained to them that the account was paid & they must contact Absa for reference but they were not interested. I feel it's unfair for to make another payment whereas I paid that amount.
