Credit Card application taking too long

Why does it take so long to get feedback regarding my Credit Card application. Do I have to call everyday to find out what is happenin? I was told that this will be escalated to the FICA department yesterday because I sent all my certified documents last week Tuesday, only to be told today by Manti that there hasn't been any escalation done. It would be nice to get updated time and again to know whats going on if it takes this long...
