Covid 19 Relief Nightmare

Absa's covid relief has been a nightmare.

When I app**** telephonically, I specifically said I sought payment relief only on my personal loan and not on my student loan.

When this month's student loan payment went off, it was triple what it normally was. I have never heard something so ridiculous. I called and the consultant told me that this was due to covid relief on the account, and that the entire fees had been charged for this time. The consultant then told me I should phone the next day to request a reversal. I did so. However still no money has been returned.

In July a double payment was taken off on my personal loan after receiving numerous sms threats saying I had skipped a payment. I had not skipped payments, I had been granted payment relief. I app**** in March, however payment was taken off. I phoned and the payment was reversed. The consultant assured me that the payment relief would run from March to May. Absa then somehow made the mistake to include June. This is Absa's error not mine. In August I then received a message saying that there was an error, and Absa apologises. But you still take a double payment?? In these times no one can afford to be charged double. Is this how you help clients?? Absa should not be able to take more than the usual payment.

I would also like all my debit orders to Absa converted to the debicheck format in order for me to approve these debit orders. This is because after this fiasco it is clear that I can no longer trust Absa.
