Bought a new car, took out insurance from ABSA iDirect end of June. Received a letter from ABSA saying they are increasing my premiums due to my claims history. I was asked about claims for the last three years when the insurance was taken out and I was given a premium rate. Now all of a sudden my premiums are being increased. I called to query and was told ABSA management made a decision and it will not be changed. I asked to speak to a manager. I was told the same thing by the manager and when I said it does not make sense. Premiums only get increased after a year. I was told that is the way it is. I then said I want to cancel my insurance. I was then told that they would cancel it with immediate effect but that the debit order will still go off and I need to reverse it, but it will affect my credit score. I then said no, you need to cancel the debit order, it cannot go off my account. The woman Sandra Inarman, said thank you and she put the phone down. Is this how ABSA works? and when customers get upset, then the customer is the problem.
