Confirmation of Approved claim and procedure from bank changes to completely different procedure
I submitted a claim form for death cover which was on my mother's ABSA account after she passed on 29 October. The email was returned by the relevant department from ABSA confirming that the claim was approved and that the funds will reflect in my account (which was part of the official) claim form received by this department and that the funds will reflect in my account within 72 hours. After ten days I enquired why the money has not been paid in and I was then informed that it was paid into my (deceased) mother's account. Now I've been informed by a consultant at my nearest branch that I first have to get a letter of authority from the Master of High court having to physically go to in CBD Johannesburg, pay R1800 and obtain several other documents (one issued by a lawyer) and also wait for up to two months for this letter. this is to have the funds transferred to my account. Why does the official claim form require MY bank details with a bank statement and indicate that that's where the funds will be paid to? This is unacceptable service.
