Complaint againt ABSA Bank
***** happened on my Credit card on the 31st May. I was not aware of the ***** happening on my credit card. On the 4th of June the bank sms me to inform me that my limit is overdrawn. I the phoned the bank and asked them what is happening, the bank then informed me that my limit of R80 000 + the money I paid in since February nearly R4000 is been used from my card, I told them that I only pay money inti that account and not using the card. Then the bank stop my card and issue me a new card after a week. The bank told me that it is my fault that the money is out of my account. And that they will be willing to give about R2000 back because according to the bank I received an OTP number, I then asked the lady of the bank what is a OTP number she explained to me it is a one time pin, I told her that I never received anything like that. I am also still waiting for that money to be paid back. The dispute and Ombudsman department also told me the same story and told me that I must pay the money back. They took money from my debit card on a monthly basis without my permission and that I signed anything to give them the go ahead. The bank blame me of negligence but when I fetch my new card I gave them my old card and the lady cut it up. I am very unhappy of how they dealt with my problem, I did heard about other people with the same problem who got their monies back. The bank also told me the monies were used to buy some currencies. I do not keep me up with nonsence. The only thing a would like from the bank is to pay my money back because I would not fight if it was my mistake but I feel very unhappy with the way they treat people. This is a lot of money.
