Cold hearted Absa Bank
I have been under debt review since 2015. My Absa vehicle finance and credit card payments have been reduced since I went under debt review. And for the last few years all was well. Then covid hit us all. Lockdown in March ...and my salary was initially cut by 30% and subsequent months down to 50 and 40 %. My debt counsellors mailed my salary reduction letters to absa with all the relevant documentation. I basically then paid half of the total amount required as per the court order despite the banks giving a 3 months grace period. I still made payments albeit lesser amounts ( and not what was stipulated on the court order). Absa subsequently cancelled my debt review for both my accounts because they didn't get the required amounts. But nobody expected Covid19 to wreak as much havoc as it did. They cancelled my review in October and my accounts went into arrears. Last week a gentle sent by Absa came to collect my car. I was furious as well as shocked as i didnt get any communication from Absa ( their communication through the entire lockdown was pathetic ... actually non existent ( as proven by the lack of response to my debt counsellors emails and adjusted payment proposals. I had an option to pay up my arrears of iust under R10k or lose the car. I had to incur more debt just to keep the car. After humbly requesting Absa to pls reinstate my debt review i was declined as they didnt get the necessary information in time ( BUT I HAVE ALL THE MAILS SENT TO THEM ) I still dont get a full salary and cant see myself paying the granted order amounts just yet. They are so cold and heartless. I've been a loyal Absa client from the days of United bank. All i want them to so is reinstate my debt review. They can do it. Lets see if they are genuinely interested in helping us ordinary folk

With reference to the Hellopeter posting received dated the 22 January 2021 regarding account terminated under Debt Review. Our response: Your request to re-instate your account under Debt Review was expedited to the mandated officials and we advise as follows:· The account was terminated from Debt Review on the 05th October 2020 due to payment received being less than instalment amount required of R2118.00, which is a default on court order.· Therefore the account remains terminated from Debt Review and regrettably, the bank will not be able to reinstate the account back under Debt Review.· We request you to please contact our vehicle finance department on ***select option 2 in order to make payment arrangements on the account. We extend our unconditional apology for the inconvenience that may have been caused. Our office is therefore closing this case on our side, however, please feel free to communicate with us should there be anything we can do to assist you with.'
