Charles ****ens - ***in goes Bankin

Why are banks not interested in the best interest of the loyal clients. I have been with ABSA, previously UNITED BANK, since my first homeloan in 1991. I have now two homeloans and for me, a large savings account with them. I have studiously over the years paid more than the minimum amount, deposited my annual bonus and any extra money I might have into my bonds to reduce my repayment period.

Now I am informed, by my wife albeit, not the bank that I would have paid my final installment for my home. My wife visited the bank to find out as to what sould happen now as we still have 2 years left and want to retain the flexi option and access to the funds rather than make loans. She was told to call their hotline as they dont deal with such their branches anymore. - excellent customer care services of course -lol. We were told that I have to withdraw the extra monies I paid in or the saved monies will be used to settle the account. The call centre person suggested we withdraw a certain amount to keep the home loan open and we were informed we could do such a process online

we started that and were called by an agent. She did an online verification - very friendly. We received an email that indicated that my wife has POA to access the homeloan via the ABSA APP to transfer funds into/ out of the homeloan. My wife noticed that she could only transfer funds into the account, not what we requested. Lo and behold the next day we noticed that we could not transfer the funds into and my wife called their Shared Call nr. We were told that we were incorrectly advised and need to go into a branch - COVID19 3rd wave does not exist and online banking is another way to tax the client for more fees?

To add a twist- wait for this. ABSA have duly informed us that the money in the flexi account will decrease by R1037 per month over the remaining 35 months of the homeloans? A wopping +-R36295 for the client that invested in their bank

Are banks not to help us grow wealth. ABSA you can offer me any resolution but do not expext me to come back to this forum and you did me good. You can respond directly to this complaint on this forum and for once take some accountability

Judge Zondo????? a commission for protection of bank clients please
