Charging me for service I did not want

On 8/10/2015 my internet banking showed I qualified for an overdraft of ***x amount. I decided to apply for it and it said I should apply for a cheque account first, so I do that. Then I receive an email from Nirasha Maharaj saying my gold value bundle application was successful, but I no longer qualify for the overdraft. I immediately rep**** that they should cancel my application in that case, since I only app**** for it so I could get the overdraft.<br> I am now receiving sms's to pay my cheque account that is in arrears even though I have never used it and do not even have a card for it, and I have sent multiple mails to Nirasha Maharaj asking for an update but he just does not reply. I phoned ABSA and the call center told me I have to go into a local branch to have it sorted out. My closest branch is in Upington where the service is abysmal an you stand in ques forever. I refuse to waste my time due to credit assessor that wants to pad his commission and refuses to reply to my emails.I feel this constitutes false advertising and violates my rights as a consumer. I have proof of all my correspondence. If this hellopeter complaint does not get answered I am going to the ombudsman.
