Charges on unused account for unpaid items

Two and a half years ago, Absa Pinelands Manageress suggested a more efficient combo account than the one I'd had for many years, said it would save me money. This year I wanted to transfer some money into my old, unused transmission account temporarily only to find that not all my payment arrangements and transactions had been pulled over into the new Cheque account. And there were R2500+- charges against this account for an item (Absa rewards) R21 going off every month and being rejected as unpaid. I was told by the front desk official that there is never any correspondence between bank and client on transmission accounts. And when I did on line banking the balance showed nil. So there is no way that I would have known this until they subtracted these charges off my lump sum transfer. I have had 3 telephonic and 2 personal visits to the bank where I have been informed the case is now in the hands of the non on site manager who shares Pinelands and Goodwood - as this was their error I. The first place, I cannot understand what the hold up is, they simp,y have to cancel these charges. I was also told that if I close this account I would have to pay the charges!! Bad service,
