Charged R140 for replacement Debit Card

Went into my closest Absa branch in Fourways today to replace my debit card as the chip has not been functioning consistently for the past month. My second visit as I previously went a few weeks ago however the branch had run out of debit cards & did not inform me while I waited in line for over an hour (even though there was a staff member asking people myself included for their reason of visit while we queued).

The person who was attending to my replacement was friendly & helpful. I told them I needed a replacement card as my current debit card was defective (expiring December of this year), handed it over to them (which they did destroy in front of me). And issued me with a new one. At no point during this entire process was I informed that there was a fee associated with it, just being told to put in my pin & sign on the e-pad to activate the pin number. I was not even notified via SMS that the transaction occured. I only found out while making an EFT later that R 140.00 had been deducted off for the replacement. This is ridiculous, deliberately omitting charges & fees in front of a customers face while simultaneously asking to sign up for a rewards scheme (that she was quick to push but failed to state there was an additional associated fee until I enquired twice & abruptly declined.
