Charged for expired debit card

I received an sms notification from ABSA stating that my debit card would expire within a month. I went into the Horizon branch (Saturday 14/11/2015) and told them as such. They then issued me with a new card. At no stage of the interaction with the enquiry person was I advised that I would be charged for the new card. My old card was not lost/******/damaged in any way. It had just expired. Later in the day I logged onto internet banking and noticed that I had been charged R80.00 for a new card. It was NOT due to my negligence that a new card had to be issued so why should i pay for it when the bank decides that cards should expire. Is this just another *******ion **** to make money? Now the banks ***** from clients just like the government *****s from the public.
