Changing of surame
I am trying to change my surname after getting married. i am still awaiting a new id. I phoned absa and asked what documents i needed and the person(i dont have her name unfortunately) told me that I would need my husbands id, my current id, certified copy of our marraige certificate and a affidavit stating that we are married. I got all the documentation and stood in the Que at absa for half an hour (i am 36 weeks pregnant). When i finally got to the front I was told that I needed my ORIGINAL marriage certificate. Seeing that I moved into a smaller space recently Most of my stuff is stored at a storing facility, including my marriage certificate. I had to pay a certain amount to obtain the box of documents. As soon as I got it, I went back to the bank and once Again they could not assist me because now i needed proof of address. This is very frustrating to me, especially being in my final stage of pregnancy. Its unprofessional of absa as everyone seems to have a different 'rule' when it comes to documentation needed. I understand that certain documents are needed but all absa staff should be able to assist with the CORRECT information. I am seriously considering changing banks.
