Cannot get any assistance

I have had a few incidents where ABSA Greenstone as well as the call centre have really not been of any assistance.

In December 2012 my partner and I took out a homeloan with Absa. After a few months of good payments, we went to Greenstone branch and Edward assisted us in applying for an improved interest rate. In 2015 we tried again at Absa Greenstone, but the lady who assisted us didnt have a clue what we were talking about and so we gave up trying.

In April 2016 we paid our bond off, and went to Absa Greenstone to find out how to keep the bond open but stop the monthy payment from coming off. After 45 mintues in the queue, I got to a customer serive consultant, who told me he had to phone the bond department to find out what to do, but they closed at 12 on a Saturday (and it was now 12:10), and that I could call the bond department during the week and they could assist me over the phone.

I called during the week, the lady who I spoke to had to ask her supervisor what action to take as she was not sure, and then informed me the supervisor advised I take some money out of the bond so she could recalculate the repayments based on this new smaller amount. I refused.

The next Saturday we went back to Greensone Absa and after an hour in the queue, was told the bond department do not open on Saturdays and so we could not be assisted. We both needed to come into the bank on a weekday. Frustrated, we spoke to the customer service manager, who took our number and promised to find out and call us back during the week (we were not called back). She also informed us that she had just received a notice from Absa stating that bonds whichs were paid up but still open should not incur the monthly R57 fee.

The following week I again called the call centre where I was told I could cancel the monthly debit order, which I did. For the last two months however, I have had to transfer R57 to the bond as the monthly contract fee is still being charged.

I cannot fathom how none of your branch staff, nor the call centre agents at the bond department have been able to assist - surely this is not such an uncommon occurence? I have now left the issue and continue to pay the R57 monthly, even though I have also received the notice from Absa in the post staing that paid up bonds should not be charged this amount.

On Saturday night at 22:08, my partner received an sms notification that R221 had been dibited from his account for INT DEBIT ORDER TO, CREDIT LIFE ASS. This is the first time this has occured, so on Saturday we went to Absa Greenstone to find out what this payment was for. Two customer service consultants assisted (or did not assit). They asked if he has life insurance with Absa (he doesnt), does he have a personal loan with Absa (he doesnt), does he have an ovedraught (he doesnt). They then said they cannot do anythign and the department they need to contact is not open on a Saturday. They were going to give him a number to call but he left his number and advised he be contacted.

I have since found out that this debit order can be reveresed online, which no one informed us of. We have tried today (Sunday) but it is not refecting on the list of debit orders which have been charged on his account.

Again, no assistance from the staff at the branch. I understand that all staff cannot be knowledgeable about every service Absa offers, but we have had ZERO assistance from the issues we have raised recently and are becoming increasingly frustrated with Absa.
