***** cannot be reported online
Really unhappy with how difficult to report *****ulent transactions with ABSA. As an 80-year-old, with poor health and reduced mobility, I physically go into the bank and get hard copy of bank statements then a family member to check for me when possible. On 12 December, I went to get xmas presents from Pavilion and went into the ABSA bank to draw from the ATM as I don’t trust any other ATM.The card showed error and we had to call Branch manager to assist us inside the branch. I spent more than 3 hours inside the bank and they issued a new card, cancelled old card and then provided me 3-month bank statement. By this time, I was exhausted and bought not a single xmas gift and went home not feeling well. My daughter checked the statement on the weekend and identified some suspicious withdrawals and asked her brother to assist. There is no toll free number to call ABSA to log a call. My son is in JHB and I am in KZN. He tried to call the 086 number which he tried over 20 times until all of his R300 airtime was finished. We are very unhappy that ABSA has made it so difficult to report ***** in a country that has the highest crime and ***** rate in the world. Today my son called a branch and was told that the card owner must to police station, open a ***** case and provide an affidavit. Again this is going to cost me more than R2000 to travel and hopefully not die in the police waiting line. All this happens while the bank happily pays their CEO and executive Millions of rands every month while older customers who basically supported the bank for over 70 years are treated like dirt. I am hoping an executive who has any moral or values take on this case to investigate and assist as Standard bank does. Gone are the days of going to police station fainting while in the long lines and doing affidavits the antiquated way. ********s don’t do this process to ***** money so the bank punishes the innocent customer while encouraging ********s to do more crime because the ********s know how hard it is to report ***** at ABSA. Your urgent response is needed now *** Naresh
