Cancellation of bond already cancelled in 2002
Our Mother passed during 2020. I have been formally appointed as Executor of her Estate. I went to the local branch to close all her accounts. The branch obliged and informed me that her bond account, although paid up, is still open. For closing this account, they referred me to the Housing Loans Division. Many e-mails later, numerous calls were made, only to be referred back to the branch. I have the original Title Deed of the property, with a letter confirming cancellation of the bond, dated 2002, 19 years ago. They now referred me to an attorney to cancel the bond, to receive a Title Deed which I already have, and be liable for the legal fees. Why anyone would want to remain with ABSA is beyond my logic. Maybe someone from ABSA will read this and refer me to a competent resource who can assist. I gave up, one can only deal with so much incompetence and lack of understanding.
