Can't open a savings account with my passport!

Hi. <br> I have lived in SA for 11 years and i have Nedbank and Standard bank credit card.i also cheque account with Fnb. Because rates are good i want my savings to Absa. When i went to brunch unfortunately they couldn't open a account. I AM A PERMANENT RESIDENCE. How come All other bank can open a account but not Absa. Because your system is i think very old school and don't accept passport number. According to SA constitution As a permanent resident i have same rights like all South Africans but According to Absa not really. Temporary Resident can open but not a Permanent Residence. Consultant lady did tried everything nothing her fault. Absa upgrade your system according to new South Africa or you will loose plenty of business. Any suggestions or solution.
