Bunch of ******

I am one of the millions of South Africans who are over-indebted and am unable to meet my commitments. I was under debt review but had to go off of this as I am on oxygen 24/7 and unable to work. I therefore have a payment arrangement with Absa for my credit cards. I pay a certain amount every month on these as I am on oxygen 24/7 and unable to work any longer. They phone to remind you when your instalment is due and I told the lady I would not have funds on the 30th but would pay early the new week. This morning I received money into my account only to have Absa help themselves to R1500 (my payment arrangement was for R50 on each account, ie. R150). I had borrowed this money to pay my bond and now I don't have sufficient to do so. I phoned the bank, the credit card department and their Legal department, none of whom seem to care at all. It has caused me great stress, which I don't need with my medical condition, and they don't care at all. I see this is the trend nowadays with banks all too often - do what they want and don't worry about the customer. Your turn will come Absa and I hope I'm there to see it. Shame on you!!

Reviewer Update

Much to my surprise - bearing in mind my recent dealings with banks - Absa decided to refund a portion of the money they took after I provided them with certain documentation they needed. Well done Absa!! and thank you.
