Bul**** into 14yrs more in the bond !
In 1999 I approached ABSA to assist in a home loan, The loan was approved to my knowledge all was well until about 10yrs into the bond I needed an extension on the bond to do some home improvements. I had been paying the bond faultlessly and not been in arrears. I was advised that I don't own the property I have been paying a bond for. ABSA's conveyancing attorney had not completed the transfers of the property. I could pay rates as the property was not in my name the municipal couldn't assist. I approached ABSA sometime in 2010 -2011 to get a resolution in the matter. My initial bond was R1800 a month on a 13% interest rate. ABSA decided to appoint a new conveyancing attorney which meant I needed to pay again for these transfers. Nevertheless, ABSA granted an extension on the home for 60k to fit the bill for the attorney and outstanding rate in order to rectify the mess. The bond then increased from R1800 to R3500. I'm not sure how 60K can increase the 2 fold and increase the loan term to 240months. The bond fell into arrears during the COVID pandemic where ABSA has been questioning the outstanding balance in arrears. The last statement I received was in 2009 which stipulated that the balance was 105k. I questioned the consultant on the remainder of the bond and I was advised on 13yrs. I am to the idea that next year is the last year of my bond. My question to ABSA how can I pay from 2000 till current and still have 13yrs left. My wife and I have retired and servicing this bond have become impossible and the worst part of all is that we have been paying double the initial bond for 60K that was added on by ABSA's appointed attorney wrongdoing. Can I have statements from the inception of the bond in 2000 to date, and I would appreciate it if the account can be reconciled from the change of bond installment.
