British Airways Credit Card

When the card was opened I selected a statement date of month end. At the end of this month my automatic payment order did not go off and the next thing I knew I was overlimit. I contacted card division on Saturday 6 May and was told that on 10 April my statement date was changed without any communication to myself. I indicated to the call centre agent, who said he would have to refer it to a Manager who only would be there on Monday, that I w as unhappy and expected a call first thing monday morning. He undertook to send an email. When I had heard nothing by 9.30am I contacted Card Division who had no record of my complaint and said that my debit order was too close to monthend hence the decision to change the date. I was unhappy that this was done without any notification and indicated that as far as I was concerned as a customer I was entitled to select the date that was convenient to me. I asked that I be called back by close of business today. The agent undertook to submit my query to her supervisor and I was told I could expect a reply by the close of business today. Unsurprisingly this was not forthcoming. My concern is that the credit scoring on my account would be detrimentally affected by declined transactions and I asked that I get confirmation that this not be held against me. The other irritating factor is that it will take five days before I can use my card. Card Division credit my card with the full amount of the APO but put a hold on it so they can cover themselves due to the very slow interbank debit process. The funds are in my account and available. Due to their archaic system if I deposit the funds manually then this will affect the APO next month and I will face a similar problem. Disgusting and arrogant service.
