Breach of TCF

A month ago I transferred a huge amount of money from my std bank account to an absa account for the purchase of goods from a provider. On not receiving the goods, I found out the provider is a *********. I immediately contacted both absa and std back to try to retrieve my funds from the absa account. Absa informed me on that day that they froze the account so no further transactions will be successful, i.e. no further withdrawals or incoming payments will be allowed. They advised that I have to provide std bank with all the information and they will liaise with them accordingly about the retrieval of funds, if available. I have been doing this for the past month and std bank advised that they sent all the required info to absa but absa has failed to respond, despite std banks follow ups! That is absolutely terrible service absa! How can you take a month to respond on a ***** case, there is no sense of urgency, it is no wonder these ********* get away!! After escalating this matter with both banks and almost daily follow ups on my end, I receive a call from std bank today confirming that there are funds available in the account but it is due to another customer that was de*****ed by the same provider! This makes NO sense at all...and here's why:

1. When I contacted absa, they informed me that they are freezing the account while I was on the line....the presumption here is that I was the first person to inform them of *****

2. If another customer informed you of ***** before I did, why was the account not frozen at that time? If you failed to freeze the account on time which resulted in my payment going through to an active account instead of being rejected from a frozen account, this means you are liable to pay ALL my money back to me!! Had you done what you needed to do on time, I would not have lost a cent!

And now after a month of delays on your part, countless phone calls on my part, time and money wasted....you have the audacity to tell me that nothing is due to me as someone else informed you of the ***** before I did! Are you serious! This is NOT treating customers fairly, certainly a breach of it!!!

IF YOU DO NOT RESOLVE THIS BY THE END OF THIS WEEK, I WILL BE REFERRING THIS MATTER TO THE OMBUDSMAN FOR REVIEW AND INVESTIGATION OF YOUR ********* PRACTICES!

Claudette, how very helpful of you to leave your contact details for me! Yet another avoidance on Absa's part. I find it funny how you managed to reply to me in a matter of hours but I personally have not received a single response from your Forensics/***** department in the past month, despite my emails to them! You only seem to care to repond on time as this message is now on a public domain, other than than, there is no sense of urgency for your private cases! Have you read my complaint?? Part of it was due to the lack of response after a month from the department you are still asking me to wait upon! There are no SLA's! If I do not receive actual feedback by tomorrow, please provide me with the Ombudsman details. When your forensics department eventually starts treating this case with the respect and time it requires, they can revert to the Ombudsman with feedback on when they were initially informed of the ***** and why the account was not frozen in time, and when they will be reimbursing me for the total amount lost! I have been more than generous with the time I have allowed Absa to resolve this case, but it has got me nowhere! Time to take the next steps!
