Bond application

I have been a client of ABSA for +/- 15 year and is also a private bank client. Currently we are buying a house and we app**** to all banks for a bond.

To start, the bond application with ABSA took us 3 days as the system kept giving us a technical error and kicking us out. When I called ABSA Home Loans department they were not aware of any errors and could not assist me. It got to the point where I had to redo the whole application.

We are first time home buyers and was seeking a full bond, ABSA kicked out the most ridiculous offer with the highest rate of all banks (off which we have not been clients).

Then, most of the details recorded in the application did not come through correct. Other banks took 24 hours to do the valuation of the property, it is takings ABSA a full 5 days, and it is still not done.

Other banks also offer discount on transfer / bond fees, ABSA has no such offers, not even for private bank clients.

I am not a happy client of ABSA and will not recommend them as the bank of choice.
