BEWARE OF DEBIT ORDERS
Went into ABSA Windermere today to stop a debit order on my account. Could not do it online because it exceeds R500. Was told that it could not be done as the debit order had been signed with the service provider MTN. Could only reverse it, which is utterly useless as the debit order will be resubmitted immediately by MTN and paid once again by ABSA resulting in more fees for me. MTN has proved utterly useless in cancelling my contract even though I have paid them in full. So the only option I have left is to close the bank account which is what I will do. Thanks to MTN and ABSA who have joined the growing number of ***********, poorly run companies who don't seem to give a damn.

Unfortunately the issue regarding stopping a debit order is something consumers must be made aware of. In my case only MTN can stop this debit order. As the holder of an account, I believe I should be able to stop any future payment from my account. Banks need to revisit this especially considering the number of *****ulent debit orders.
