Beware - desktop valuations

Only after our property was transferred onto our name and after discovering defects in property purchased, did we ask for assessment report from ABSA.... they have a practice which is called desktop where they look on google and confirm there is a house there and approve the bond. We were not advised of this practise by bond originator, lawyer and estate agent. Please note other banks usually only do this practise on sectional title. ABSA does it on houses. I have approached dept of human settlements but this practise is allowed....please be warned.
