Be Careful with their ATMs

This is happened years ago, but it's a bit of a cautionary tale and the reason why I don't use my Absa account anymore. In my first year at Varsity - 6 years ago -, I was unlucky enough to have my Absa ATM card swallowed by the Absa ATM on campus. My card went into the slot, the ATM didnt detect it, and the card never came out. I had a bus to rush for and no money so I just cancelled my card and went on. When I went into a branch for a new card, they told me I had to pay ±R200. I couldnt believe they were making me pay so much because of THEIR faulty machine. I was so broke, I didn't even have that amount in my *** for their most basic card at the time (I forgot its name)? I teared up and had to leave before I fully broke into tears because I didnt know how I would come up with the money. Very cruel of them to not take responsibility for what was clearly their mistake.
