Be a leader, or get with the times

I have been trying to close all my ABSA accounts for some time now. The accounts have become pretty much dormant as I do not use them anymore.

Though the banking fees for these specific accounts are not excessive ABSA and I have gone into this routine where I settle all, and they push me back into negative with bank fees followed by a warning letter that I will be penalized if I do not address the negative.

This has become extremely frustrating and I have contacted them on multiple occasions via e-mail, and phone to explain the situation and request to close the accounts. According to them, seems it is impossible to authenticate yourself via e-mail or phone in the 21st century and you have to go into a branch. And when in extreme frustration you do eventually decide to bite the bullet and go into a branch, they are closed. I mean realistically, who keeps those business hours and expect to do proper business with busy people, if your policies insist on doing business in person.

And looking around on digital spaces it seems I am not the only person with similar sentiment.

Now, in order to preserve my sanity I will most probably make a special arrangement to meet your restrained business hours and brave your queues. However I do have some advice.

In my experience as a business rendering services you have one of 3 options. *You are a leader in your field and you develop innovative solutions to make your services accessible to your clients conveniently and efficiently. *You adopt good ideas developed by other leaders. *You get left behind...
