ABSA have been phoning me all day, from numbers that cannot be called back - ********** 014, ********** 062, etc. - and not leaving messages. This adds unnecessary stress to an already stressful day. Is this an emergency? Is someone dying?
Why don't companies train their staff how to use phones? If you call someone and they are too busy to take the call, leave a clear message so they know who was calling and why. Leave a contact number if you want the person to call you back.
When people call in to a call centre, phone operators need to know how to answer the call. This is basic stuff. I recently had the misfortune of having to deal with Johannesburg municipality. One staff member picked up the phone but didn't say a word. I could hear other voices in the background, but there was no "hello", or "how can I help you."
Really. Big corporates, smaller retailers, everybody, this is basic stuff. Train your staff.
Thanks.
