Banking on better customer care outside Absa Pinetown.

Two weeks ago I needed to visit an Absa branch as my elderly cancer-patient mother who had just come out of hospital had banking issues and I have power of attorney. I am also my mother's primary carer - so I have to be especially vigilant with regard to Covid-19.

The only outer West Of Durban branch that was open was Pinetown. I had to stand outside for almost three hours to get inside. But that is not my complaint. My complaint is the extent to which the branch abdicated it's responsibility to ensure social distancing and mask use in the long line outside. Indeed the abdication of responsibility was complete and absolute. Inside everything was hunky dory, outside there was no control.

I was deeply unimpressed.

Dear Customer Thank you for bringing this unfortunate matter to my attention and please accept my sincere apology. Contact was made with the branch for them to be more vigilant even outside the building, checking whether everything is running smoothly by taking care of our customers.

We apologise for the experience that you had.
