Bank charges for 7 years

I had a saving bank account with Absa which i have not used for 7 years. It accumulated bank charges every month and Absa has never informed me that there are any charges that are accumulating at all. I was under the impression that the account was actually closed. In January 2026 a friend sent me money and unfortunately she paid into that account by mistake. That is when i got to hear that there is +-R850 bank charges owing on the account.
