Bank Charges
My cheque account had charges of R2100.00 due to debits which were bouncing between September and November 2014 because i had lost my job. I visited the east gate bank in late November after getting paid on my new job and explained my situation. The official on the enquiries desk consulted the bank manager and they agreed that they will freeze my cheque account till i am back on my feet to avoid further charges. they opened a savings for me and transferred the money there. In late January i received a call from Absa saying i must pay R5000.00 i am owing on my cheque acc. I was shocked because when the account was frozen I was owing R2100 now it accumulated to R5000. Last week I received a call from McRoberts Attorney on behalf of Absa claiming that i should pay R5900 or make an arrangement on how i will pay it to avoid legal actions. I went and see the manager but the only thing she told me is i have to pay the money nothing more.

I have not paid the money only because i am so disappointed by the service i received from Absa after being a loyal client for 11 years. I am looking for a new bank now due to this.
