Bank Charges

Your callcentre is the most unhelpful as well! Last week Wednesday i went to open my savings account as I have decided to get a debt consolidation company to assist me. I asked very nicely to have my cheque account closed as that is what this company requires, alas this was never done and I am sitting on R959.45 worth of bank charges. It is easy for your consultant to say go back to the branch and insist they help you, but what do i do if i work 7 days a week and do not get a lunch hour? Not every company allows the staff out for lunch. I understand I am liable for the costs, but not immediately! I also asked so nicely for the debit orders to be stopped as the debt consolidation company is settling the debt. Really ABSA I do not have money and I am trying to settle my debt how fair are you to treat a customer in this manner? I cannot take personal calls at work so please do not try and call. You are welcome to email me! I would like this resolved as a matter of urgency before I go to a completely new bank who treat the customers with respect and take into account that they are trying to sort out there financial issues without you adding more on it and not assisting.

Dear Customer
The first message from you is that you want your account to be closed. Second time now you want your account to remain open so i do not understand what you actually want us to do.
Also we are unable to delete external debit orders because that was an agreement between yourself and them which means you need to liaise with them to stop those debit orders.
Lastly client needs to visit the branch to close an account where debit order charges are concerned for identification purposes.
Kind regards
