Bank account frozen due to FICA

I tried to use my debit card on Friday night to pay for our dinner and it was declined due to FICA issues. I then tried to withdraw cash from the ATM and was again declined. I am fortunate enough to also be banking with Nedbank so was able to withdraw funds from that account and settle my bill and also have funds for the weekend.

When i went into the bank now i was told I should have received and sms, I did not. My correct cell number is on the system and I receive notification when I transact so it is correct in the system. I went into ABSA now and was told that i need to bring in a copy of my ID/passport and a utility/cell bill. I asked if i could use the account from my security company which is for my home address and was told no.

So 2 issues here:
1. What gives ABSA the right to freeze my account without warning?
2. How is the invoice from my security company not acceptable?

This is not acceptable service from ABSA at all.
